My name is Emma Travis and I am an artist, textile and surface pattern designer based in Manchester, UK. I have enjoyed the arts from being a very young age and I would love to draw the human body and horses (my other great passion) as I was growing up. I left school and continued on to study Textile Design and graduated in 2000. My interests in abstract expressionism drove me into a career painting abstract art before I started a small business making personalised baby blankets by drawing pictures with the needle of my sewing machine. After 20 years of painting and sewing, I felt a calling, bringing me back to my designing roots and so I began to put together my first repeat patterns and collections. I haven’t looked back since. My work is inspired by the wonders of nature. I love animals and wildlife, forests and meadows. I love to meditate and absorb the beauty of the world and the richness and clarity it brings. Form, colour and texture, naive, whimsical designs inspired by nature, would best describe my style and expression.
